3 ways to implement remote working in your company

So you’re willing to go remote? Congrats! It has been proven one of the best way to foster trust and engagement within employees. But from the technical deployment (some will needs increased security) to the diversity of remote policies you can deploy, the journey is not an easy one. Here is a quick summary of…

1- Full-Time Remote

That’s the one that comes to mind first. Remote working is usually thought to be a full-time option to provide a logistic solution to employees that cannot be in person in the office.

Nowadays some start-ups are going all-in on this option, not having an office at all and working from all over the world. Each employee has the choice to work from home or in coworking spaces. The rise of online services like BaseCamp or Slack makes it a perfect solution for small to medium teams. Automattic (creators of WordPress.com) and Level37 (creators of BaseCamp, authors of Remote) are great examples. It usually fits better new technology & services companies and seems to be a cost saving option for teams under 10.

Alternatively it is also a great strategy to enable hiring of solid profiles not willing to move to your HQ on a daily basis.
Full-time Remote is usually blended with quarterly visits and team gathering in order to develop and consolidate the company culture and team spirit. Working online is a sexy proposal but still, real life gathering is a must, and gain additional value when you do not have your coworkers at hand everyday.

2- Remote as a service

Some professionals are always on-the-go and remote working might fit perfectly into their weekly agenda. Think consultants, sales people.

Right now they usually work from hotels, Starbucks and other public places, when company local offices are non-existent and working from a client’s meeting room a few extra hours not an option. With the rise of the sharing economy and the growth of shared office spaces, mobile employees have now great options at hand to find real alternatives to Starbucks, on a daily basis and for a fraction of the cost. For employers, it’s the guarantee their workforce is working in a suitable environment and a perfect way to control costs and productivity.

In fact, some companies are already implementing mobility at the core of their operations. Michelin in France has deployed an app dedicated to hot-desking between employees and their offices spread all over France.

3- Remote as a Perk

The workforce is evolving. Not only technology enables remote working as a convenient alternative to everyday office routine, but employees themselves expect more flexibility from their employers and HR policies. For Millennials, it’s a mandatory option in their criteria to choose a future company to work for.

Luckily enough, it’s now easier than ever to build a flexible policy with all the options available around. Each city has great coworking spaces, meeting rooms alternatives, Co-coffee focused on providing a tailored environment for workers on the go.

Implement Remote as a monthly option, one day at a time, and you will see productivity, happiness increase while turn-over will lower drastically.

At Daysk we offer one simple platform with all three options, ready to implement within your company. We provided a network of curated places to work from, while simplifying the process of setting-up and managing costs, invoicing and productivity.
